Introduction

As members of the student council, you have been asked by your principal to address the increased number of plagiarism incidents and cheating occurring in the school. She has challenged you to find some method to alert, teach and ultimately prevent this from happening.

The Task

You will be organizing a workshop for all students in which plagiarism will be addressed. You must:

  • Find local and national evidence that this is in fact a problem
  • Research other schools rules and consequences
  • Determine why this hurts the school community
  • Determine why students plagiarize
  • Create a plan for students to follow which will help them avoid plagiarism
  • Create a list of consequences for the student planners
  • Create a brochure
  • Create an oral presentation
  • The Process

Step by step instructions on how to complete the project.
    I. You will be assigned to a team of 4. Each team will answer the tasks listed above:

    • Student 1 will research national evidence of the problem
    • Student 2 will research local evidence of the problem
    • Student 3 will research consequences of the problem
    • Student 4 will research possible resources students can use to avoid plagiarism
  • II. You will discuss your findings with your team.
  • III. You will create a pamphlet summarizing your discussion, using MS Publisher.

IV. You will create a PowerPoint presentation to use in conjunction with your pamphlet.
