The religion department continuously strives to provide meaningful classroom and prayer experiences for the young people entrusted to them as students at Bishop Ryan High School.
Fr. Keith Streifel, Kathleen Haberlack, and Anastasia Vickerman serve as classroom religion teachers at BRHS. In addition, Fr. Streifel serves the students and faculty as school chaplain.
The religion department offers eight semesters of religion for students in grades 9-12: Old Testament, New Testament, Creed, Sacrament, Christian Lifestyles, Social Justice, Church History, Morality and Sexuality. In addition to required course work, students are provided with numerous and varied prayer opportunities. Morning, class, and All-School Eucharistic liturgies are scheduled throughout the year, as well as faith workshops, the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, retreats and additional special prayer experiences that may arise throughout the year.
Students at Bishop Ryan High School have become very involved in Diocesan Youth Rallies, the National Catholic youth Conference, and an interest is building in the Diocesan SEARCH program. BRHS is known for its FROG (Fully Rely On God) Squad which is a group of enthusiastic 7-12 grade students who serve as leaders in the liturgical life of the school.
